Being new to the area, I was thrilled to discover Hotel Valley Ho. I stayed at the hotel to cover Arizona Cocktail Week’s kickoff event and received an exclusive tour from Ace Bailey to learn about the hotel’s rich history prior to my stay.
Hotel Valley Ho was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright’s student, Edwin Leighton Varney, and was built in 1956. It quickly became a getaway for the likes of Hollywood’s famous including the Rat Pack, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis.
As you can see from the photo above, Hotel Valley Ho has kept the integrity of its historic design while adding additional rooms. When you walk into the hotel and any of the rooms, you will see they have spared no expense at keeping the interior modern with a recent $80 million renovation… the interior is beautiful and features historic design elements throughout.
We checked into the hotel a little early so we dinned at ZuZu while we waited for our room. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with onion rings and my boyfriend ordered the ZuZu burger with fries. Both entrees were delicious and as gourmet as you can make these traditional American entrees. The ambiance at ZuZu was great, colorful and reminiscent of the 60’s with a modern touch.
The resort offers several unique rooms and suits. We stayed in a pool view room on the 2nd floor and were so happy with our choice! The interior was clean, bright and beautiful and we had a spacious patio that overlooked the pool. Note: the photo above does not do this room justice. The blues and greens in this room are bold & vibrant.
A fun feature in the rooms is the optional blue mood-lighting over the bathtub. As someone who loves to soak in a deep bath, this fun and relaxing feature was right up my ally.
Every guest room has Red Flower amenities which are paraben-free, organic, biodegradable, and in containers made from recycled materials. Another perk is that the resort is known for its green initiatives.
Even the fruit & nut tray was presented with elegance. The white brick wall is an original design element and gives the room character.
Ok ladies, this spacious vanity with stool was AMAZING! I had plenty of room to get ready and loved this feature. I wish I had this much counter space at home!
Down at the pool, you can lounge or grab a drink at the 1960s-esque poolside bar. If you want to get away for the day and enjoy the pool, you can rent a cabana.
This double lounger was great but what’s cool is the original rail & design elements of the wall. The v-shaped design is a theme featured throughout the resort and was an original feature designed by Edwin Varney.
The resort also has a spa and fitness center available to hotel guests. The resort does not charge a typical resort fee which is a nice perk.
I had an AMAZING stay at this resort and will definitely be back. Whether you are a local or you’re considering staying here for travel/vacation, you will not be disappointed!
