Arizona is home to some of the world’s most amazing sights, including Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon. We’ve had all 3 on our buckets list and were thrilled to learn these amazing places were all within 20 minutes of each other!
We booked a room at Lake Powell Resort and traveled to Page, Arizona for our 3 day, 2 night adventure. Check out our itinerary:
Day 1: Travel, Upper Antelope Canyon & Hotel Check-In
We left Phoenix at 7:30AM and arrived in Page, AZ at 11:30AM. We had booked a tour for Antelope Canyon at 1:00PM so we had time to grab a quick lunch.
To visit Upper or Lower Antelope Canyon, you must book a tour. All the tour companies have open air trucks to transport you to the canyons.
Upper Antelope Canyon is absolutely amazing! There were a lot of people in the canyon but the tour companies space their times apart to allow for photos.
The canyon is .25 miles long and there is endless beauty at every turn. We learned the best time of year is May when the sun rays beam into the canyon and give amazing lighting. Our tour ended around 3:30 which was perfect timing to check in at Lake Powell Resort (15- 20 mins from the tour company).
When we arrived at Lake Powell Resort, we were surprised with more gorgeous scenery. The resort is located right on the Lake.
Our room was well appointed and had a balcony with an amazing lake view! It was great to check-in and then watch the sunset over the lake. The resort also has an amazing pool that overlooks the lake.
Day 2: Horseshoe Bend & Canyon Adventure Boat Tour
We arrived at Horseshoe Bend at 9:30AM and had the Canyon Adventure Boat Tour at 1PM
Horseshoe Bend was about 20 minutes from Lake Powell Resort and well worth the drive! We spent 2 hours at Horseshoe Bend taking photos and enjoying the scenery.
Next on our agenda was the Canyon Adventure Boat Tour. The checkin for this tour was at Lake Powell Resort’s lobby – so convenient! The photo above shows the walk down from the resort lobby to the dock with the tour boat.
The views on the Canyon Adventure Boat Tour were incredible! We recommend grabbing a seat on the top deck!
Taking a boat tour when in Lake Powell is a must. You will be overwhelmed with the beauty and also learn a lot through the audio tour.
Day 3: Breakfast & Travel Home
Before leaving, we had breakfast at Lake Powell Resort’s Rainbow Room restaurant (photo below). The restaurant has an amazing view and great food. We highly recommend dining there for one of your meals.
